Cyto is not on the Play Store yet, so it installs from here instead. Android asks for permission before it will do that, and the steps below are what it asks for.

You need Android 10 or later.

Installing

  1. Tap Download Cyto above.
  2. Your browser will ask whether to allow installing apps from it. Allow it.
  3. Open the downloaded file and tap Install.
  4. Android may say the app is not recognised. Choose Install anyway — that warning is about Cyto being new rather than about anything it found.

Open Cyto and sign in with your email address. It sends you a code; there is no password.

Updates

Updates are not automatic while Cyto is outside the Play Store. When a build is too old to carry on, the app says so and offers to bring you back to this page. Rides already recorded stay on your phone and upload once you have updated.

Checking what you downloaded

You do not need this to install Cyto. It is here so the build can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Any Cyto build answers with that fingerprint:

apksigner verify --print-certs cyto-1.2.0-<commit>-release.apk

A different value means a different key, so the file did not come from us.
